We address the pressing issue of Alzheimer's disease in the United States and specifically in Wisconsin. Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, including an estimated 6.9 million individuals aged 65 and older in 2024. Among them, 73 percent are age 75 or older, and about 1 in 9 people age 65 and older (10.9%) are affected by this condition.
Sadly, Wisconsin reflects this troubling trend, with 111,000 people aged 65 and older living with Alzheimer's. Additionally, 10.9% of people aged 45 and older in Wisconsin experience subjective cognitive decline.
