Threecastles is a tower house, dating to the 1500s situated in County Wicklow, Ireland and built of granite.
It is located in close proximity to the upper reaches of the River Liffey, that flows from the Wicklow Mountains, past this area, to the Irish Sea through Dublin City.
The name, Threecastles, is said to derive from the presence of three of these fortified houses in the area, of which only this one survives in ruins.
I photographed it on a blue sky autumn day.
