New Franken, WI, located just outside of Green Bay, is home to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, the only Marian apparition site approved by the Catholic Church in the United States.
It is there in 1859 that the Virgin Mary came to Sister Adele Brise and gave her a specific mission:
"Gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation. Teach them their catechism, how to sign themselves with the sign of the Cross, and how to approach the sacraments; that is what I wish you to do."
Inspired by the faith of Sister Adele, people continue to live out the instruction she received from Mary by educating children in the faith. Funds raised by the Walk to Mary will be used to support Catholic education.
