Описание: วัดนี้มีชื่อว่า วัดผ้าขาว ตั้งอยู่เลขที่ 36 ถนนราชมรรคา ตำบลพระสิงห์ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เป็นวัดราษฎร์ สังกัดคณะสงฆ์มหานิกาย คะคุณผู้ชม วัดนี้ในอดีต จะอยู่ในการอุปถัมภ์ของกษัตริย์ล้านนา มาโดยตลอด เนื่องจากว่าวัด เป็นสถานที่เปลี่ยนเครื่องทรงของกษัตริย์ ซึ่งกษัตริย์และผู้ร่วมพิธีทุกคน ต้องนุ่งขาวห่มขาว เพื่อแสดงถึงความบริสุทธิ์แห่งจิตใจก่อนเข้าพิธี
ตามประวัติกล่าวว่า กษัตริย์ราชวงศ์มังรายก่อนจะขึ้นเสวยราชย์ทุกพระองค์ จะทรงผ้าชุดขาว (นุ่งขาวห่มขาว) ณ วัดผ้าขาว จากนั้นจะเสด็จ ไปสะเดาะเคราะห์ ณ วัดหมื่นตูม และจะเสด็จมาประกอบพิธีสรงน้ำพุทธาภิเษก ณ หนองน้ำวัดเจ็ดลิน ซึ่งจะมีรางน้ำ เรียกว่า "ลิน" ทำด้วยทองคำ หลั่งน้ำพุทธาภิเษกจากสุวรรณหอยสังข์ หล่อลงรางลินทำด้วยคำทั้ง 7 เพื่อสรงพระวรกาย แล้วจึงเปลี่ยนเครื่องทรงกษัตริย์ขึ้นเสวยราชย์ต่อไปอันเป็นประเพณีที่สืบต่อกันมา

Wat Pha Khao (The Temple of the White Robe Ceremony)
Wat Pha Khao is a historic Buddhist temple located at 36 Ratchamankha Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. The temple belongs to the Maha Nikaya sect of Theravada Buddhism and is one of the lesser-known yet historically meaningful temples within Chiang Mai’s Old City.
In the past, Wat Pha Khao was closely connected with the royal traditions of the Lanna Kingdom. The temple served as the sacred place where Lanna kings prepared themselves spiritually before ascending the throne.
Historical records say that every king of the Mangrai Dynasty would first come to this temple to change into white ceremonial garments. Both the king and all participants wore pure white clothing, symbolizing spiritual purity and a clear mind before entering the royal ceremonies.
After dressing in white at Wat Pha Khao, the king would travel to Wat Muen Tum to perform a ritual believed to remove misfortune. The royal procession would then continue to Wat Ched Lin, where the sacred bathing ceremony took place.
At Wat Ched Lin, holy water was poured through golden channels known as “Lin.” The consecrated water flowed from a sacred golden conch shell into seven golden channels, symbolically bathing the king. After completing this ritual purification, the king would change into royal attire and officially ascend the throne.
This sequence of sacred ceremonies reflects the deep spiritual beliefs and royal customs of the ancient Lanna Kingdom, traditions that have been passed down for generations.
Today, Wat Pha Khao remains a peaceful temple in the historic center of Chiang Mai, quietly preserving the memory of these ancient royal traditions.
