Song and video lore:
We wrote Perigee in the middle of 2025 and it just became a favorite to perform on our livestream pretty quickly! It is very vibey and conjures up a mysterious, focused, and reflective feeling. We added layered synths, vocals, and guitars to create Perigee.

We traveled to waterfalls, rivers, and even the ocean to film this and I feel the visual theme was really captured. It makes me happy! This was the first album cover art where I layered us together in a transparent way (I made a lot of layers), and that's what inspired the visual theme with how I edited the video with opaque crossfades. The fading layers in the video are meant to parallel the layered synths and vocals in the sounds, too. The two main scenes are rivers and oceans which are mentioned in the first lyrics and represent our themes of time.

Definition of perigee: the point in the orbit of an object (such as the moon) orbiting the earth that is nearest to the center of the earth. While apogee is the opposite (furthest).
This song's representation is the lunar perigee/apogee, as the moon orbits around the earth with the passage of time, also affecting the tides through the days.

One meaning of this song is about how your time is fully in your hands and also out of your control.

Video game inspirations and references:
Perigee gives us a Zelda vibe, so there are a couple nods to Zelda! First, there is a small reference to Song of Time within it (during the interlude right after the first chorus).

I was inspired by the Silent Realm in Skyward Sword when I was writing lyrics for this and themed the vibe around it a bit, blended with real life themes. The water in that part of the game, and collecting the tears, went with the rivers/ocean/water theme of this song too. SO, I made sure to put the word "skyward" in the lyrics too! The line "time will not call out a shriek, waking you from your dormancy" is inspired by how life is NOT like a game or time trial (like the silent realm) that calls out clearly when you must act, and you have to take time into your own hands.

In the guitar solo, Josiah references F-Zero's song "White Land". If you listen side by side you will definitely hear the little nod to it.
