Steel Assault is a new retro-style action platform game from Zenovia Interactive, and it's probably the best 'retro throwback' indie game that I've played so far. The pixel art is excellent, it has a great soundtrack that fits the action perfectly, the game moves at a fast pace, and it has a satisfying level of difficulty. Everything here is pretty well polished.

I uploaded a no damage run through Expert difficulty in story mode yesterday (   • STEEL ASSAULT - Expert Mode, No Damage  ), so naturally the next step is to 1CC Arcade mode. Arcade is quite a bit harder than the regular game - starting from stage 3, there are no healing items whatsoever (as far as I know, maybe I missed one), your health doesn't recover between stages (or stage segments in stage 5), and of course, you only get one life. Die, and you're sent back to stage 1.

If you want to clear Arcade, I'd recommend learning everything fairly thoroughly in story mode first, because you can't afford to make many mistakes. It would be nice if there were a stage select you could for practice without having to jump between saves, but that works well enough I suppose.

If you're a fan of action platform games, I'd highly recommend buying this. Right now it's available on the Switch and Steam, hopefully it will come to Playstation and Xbox soon so everyone can easily play it. (Though I seriously doubt you need a NASA PC to run it)
