The Face Stealer for Tuba and Euphonium Quartet (2023)
The Face Stealer was inspired by the character “Koh the Face Stealer” from Avatar the Last
Airbender. In this ~8 minute and 30 second piece, there are three main sections:
I. Fight!
An intense, dissonant, punchy battle between The Face Stealer and an unknown protagonist.
II. Defeat
Poignant and mellow, victims of The Face Stealer share their story.
III. Redemption
Using the stories of victims for newfound purpose, the unknown protagonist fights again to
defeat The Face Stealer. In the end, it is revealed that The Face Stealer cannot be defeated.
