Our wildlife biobank is one of the UK’s most unique biological archives — housing thousands of specimens collected over decades.
Follow PhD researcher Alex Thomas as she tests forensic light sources on these real wildlife items — from pangolin skin and tiger claws to mystery substances and mustelid paws — all stored in ZSL’s vast biobank. These methods could help identify hidden traces and distinguish real from fake materials, aiding law enforcement in wildlife crime investigations.
