All Smart Pot Urban Raised Beds are 18” tall, with a soil fill line of 16”. They come in our Natural/ Tan fabric which has our black fibers incorporated for added strength and UV resistance. Urban Raised Bed Gardens are versatile, as they can be used indoors or outdoors. We have designed these to be easily used in a flood tray or table system, and work well with all soil medium types. For optimal performance, we recommend a lighter mix of coco or peat, with perlite added for aeration. Because of the breathability of the Smart Pot fabric, even heavy, dense soils will do okay, and will certainly drain more thoroughly than in a rigid plastic or wooden raised bed.

Gardeners are loving these new PVC ready, Urban Raised Beds and the options they now have. For gardeners with mobility issues, the 2’x4’ bed can be easily placed onto an elevated platform. The rigid PVC frame will allow older gardeners to have a solid handle to prop themselves back into a standing position. The 3-way fitting joints can even be swapped for 4 way joints to incorporate more vertical PVC piping which will allow you to make a trellising system.

Gardeners who are unfamiliar with Smart Pot fabric planters will be blown away by the added growth and yields of their plants. The Smart Pot fabric allows tons of oxygen to get to the roots and microbes that work with them, which accelerates their growth rates. Also, air-pruning of the roots keeps the primary roots from circling the outside of the pot endlessly. The root tip hits the fabric/ oxygen and dries out. This sends a signal through the root saying, “I’ve gone as far as I can go, now branch out!” This causes massive lateral root development, especially of the secondary, fine feeder roots that are largely responsible for uptake for water and nutrients.

When it is hot, Smart Pot Urban Raised Beds will “sweat” to keep cool, just like you do! Instead of roots baking in the sun, inside a plastic pot that can reach 120 degrees F., your Smart Pot fabric is staying around 90 degrees. This is much less stress on the roots, which leads to happier, healthier plants, and bigger yields.
