SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Utah family is pleading with the state parole board to keep the man who killed their son, 13-year-old Eli Mitchell behind bars, saying their life sentence did not end when his prison term began.
Mason Andrew Ohms attended a scheduled parole hearing Tuesday, Feb. 24, nearly four years after Eli was struck and killed while riding his bicycle home from a grocery store in West Jordan.
Eli’s father, Jeremy Mitchell, described his son as “a joyful, adventurous, hardworking boy with a bright future.”
“He filled every room with energy and kindness. He was the kind of child who made everyone around him better,” he wrote.
