I’ve been obsessed with Mario Kart Wii custom tracks for over a decade, but never thought I’d create one myself. Creating a Rubik’s Cube themed track sounded somewhat manageable, as I could keep the model relatively simple. My primary focus was on creating a track that revolves heavily around shortcuts, as they are my favourite part of the game. My hope is that the track’s unique theme and abundance of shortcuts make up for its rather simplistic geometry and texturing.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with how the track turned out. What once started as a far-fetched idea turned into something tangible that combines two of my greatest passions: Mario Kart Wii and Rubik’s Cubes. I enjoyed learning more about how the game works through the track creation process and was ultimately inspired by other custom track creators who continue to create amazing tracks to this day.

Unfortunately, I have no plans on creating another custom track moving forward. But you never know what the future holds.
