Ramones New York City Landmarks 2021

Описание: This is a video walking tour of historic Ramones landmarks in and around New York City. This is my absolute favorite video I've ever done! The Ramones are my all-time favorite band, so it's an honor to share this with you all. Being that I had to piece several different locations together, I've added seven different headings to guide you. Details below:
1. Ramones Album Cover Photo Location: Walk down East 2nd street off of Bowery, and you'll find Albert's Garden, a small community garden halfway up the block. The cover photo from their historic debut album was taken here in 1976. The day of my visit, the gate was locked, but you can still see the wall in the video.
2. Arturo Vega's Loft: Between the Bowery and Albert's Garden is Arturo Vega's loft. Arturo was the Ramones' creative director, art director, lighting director, historian, confidante, and he designed the Ramones iconic eagle logo. Both Dee Dee and Joey lived here for quite some time. Arturo claims to have attended all but two of the Ramones 2,200 live shows from 1974-1996.
3. CBGB: The Ramones played their first public show at CBGB on August 16, 1974. They played 73 more shows by the end of that year alone, quickly becoming synonymous with the venue. It is now a John Varvatos, but they have done a wonderful job maintaining the integrity and the soul of this iconic location.
4. Forest Hills High School: All four founding members of the Ramones attended FHHS. Joey, Johnny, Tommy, and Dee Dee all struggled to fit in as outcasts, but bonded together with their love of bands such as the Stooges.
5. Joey's Walk Home From School: This is the route that Joey would have walked everyday from Forest Hills High School to his apartment at Birchwood Towers.
6. Birchwood Towers: Joey lived here with his mother and his brother. Johnny also lived in Birchwood for some time. There are three separate towers, and Joey lived in the Bel Air. The entire Forest Hills area was upper middle-class, and the Ramones struggled to fit in.
7. The Ramp: The birthplace of the Ramones, and the genesis of punk rock. If there's a definition of "stomping grounds," this is it. As young, lost, bored, and angry teens, the Ramones met at this sacred site to scheme and daydream of future stardom. They would also drink, sniff glue, and beat people up. Originally outcasts in Forest Hills, the Ramones are now proud sons.
