UNREAL ATMOSPHERE as Bolton DENY Lincoln Late On!

I was at Sincil Bank as Lincoln City (2nd) hosted Bolton Wanderers (3rd) in a HUGE League One clash with just 6 points separating the sides and Bolton having played a game more. Promotion race tension? Absolutely.

Before kick-off, I spoke to a few Lincoln fans nervous but quietly confident as the atmosphere built around the ground. The 617 Squadron were already in full voice, and you could feel this was going to be a proper occasion under the lights.

On the pitch, it started fast.

Lincoln hit the bar early on inches away from the perfect start! But Bolton responded quickly, nearly scoring from a dangerous cross that rattled the woodwork at the other end. End-to-end stuff.

Lincoln grew into the game and really took it to Bolton. On 25 minutes, the breakthrough arrived. The ball was worked into Jack Moylan, who calmly placed it into the bottom corner. 1-0 Lincoln! Absolute scenes in the home end the noise from the 617 Squadron was deafening!

Half-time: 1-0 to the Imps.

Second half, Lincoln continued to press and had chances to put the game beyond doubt… but couldn’t quite find that killer second goal.

And then the sucker punch.

82 minutes and a Bolton cross into the box found Sam Dalby, who powered home a header to make it 1-1. Suddenly it was game on.

The final stages were cagey, tense, and full of nerves, but neither side could find a winner. It finished 1-1 in a massive result in the League One promotion race.

A brilliant atmosphere, two top sides going at it, and a point apiece that keeps things very interesting at the top.
