Day 4 of this little series on breathing into hope.
Today’s practice was about small steps, And sometimes that's all we can do focus on one moment and then move to the next moment....
To be honest, it was hard for me to get up and start today. Some days it’s easy to show up for things that help us feel better, and other days it takes a lot more effort. Today was one of those days for me.
The breathing practice in this video is just a minute or two of five short inhales followed by one long exhale. It’s a simple way to build the breath gradually and then release it.
After the breathing, I spent a little more time doing a mindful art practice. As I was creating, I found myself talking through some of my thoughts and feelings along the way. I decided to leave that in instead of editing it out, because sometimes the process of creating is also a process of working through what’s going on inside.
Nothing in this video is about doing it perfectly. It’s just about showing up, taking a few breaths, making a few marks, and taking one small step forward.
Today I’m proud that I did that.
