Join me on the smallest train journey in Karachi! Today, I'm excited to share my experience on the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR). I boarded the train at Malir Colony Railway Station and ended my journey at Karachi City Railway Station, the current final stop.
Historically in last few years, the KCR extended to Orangi Railway Station, passing through several stations, including Wazir Mansion, Lyari, Manghopir and SITE. Unfortunately, the section from Karachi City to Orangi has been suspended again, despite significant investments in previous years.
Notably, the KCR's distinctive white & blue liveried coaches were absent, replaced by standard passenger train coaches. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my 1-hour ride on the KCR train.
I hope this project will be revitalized and transformed into a modern electric train system, similar to Lahore's Orange Line Metro Train. Will Karachiites ever get to experience this? Only time will tell!
