Use THIS for Scar Reduction (not Vit E Oil)

🔸Vitamin E oil and Mederma are not proven to be very effective for scars. Newer formulations of Mederma can contain silicone though, and these would work.

👉🏼How does silicone work for scars?🔸Silicone tricks the stratum corneum (top most layer of the skin) into thinking there is no injury so the collagen formation is more normal and less scar collagen.

👉🏼For surgical wounds, speak to your doctor before using any products.

👉🏼For my post-surgical patients, I recommend starting silicone scar strips 2-3 weeks after surgery. Use it as directed on the box for at least 1 month, ideally 3 months.
