Swapo regains lead in Zambezi Region - nbc

Описание: The Swapo Party has strengthened its political hold in the Zambezi Region by retaining three constituencies it lost in the last Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections.

This brings the number of constituencies under the party's control to seven out of eight in the just-ended Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections. 

Among the key wins for the ruling party are Kennedy Simasiku for Katima Mulilo Urban Constituency with 4,063, Bernard Sisamu secured Kabbe North with 1,034 votes, while Raymond Sezuni convincingly retained his seat in Kabbe South with 1,473 votes.

Rector Nkando took over Sibbinda Constituency from Independent Candidate Mickey Lukaezi, who rejoined Swapo days before election day, with 2,474 votes.

Progress Sipapela took over Linyanti Constituency with 1,499 votes. 

The constituency was led by Ivan Kavunga, an independent candidate who came in second with 1,438 votes.

The Judea Lyaboloma Constituency returned back to Swapo under Vincent Sinalumbu, who won with 1,089.

Judea Lyaboloma was also governed by an independent candidate, Humphrey Divai, who now received 714 votes.

Denis Sincembe consolidated the Swapo Party's majority across the region, taking over Katima Rural with two thousand 335 votes.

The only constituency that remained outside the Swapo Party's control is Kongola, where Bennetty Busihu, an independent candidate, successfully defended his position with 1,270 votes. 

Busihu's continued influence in Kongola marks the region's single exception in an otherwise dominant performance by the ruling party. 

With regard to the local authorities' results, in the Katima Mulilo town council, Swapo obtained five seats, with NDP and IPC both securing one seat each, while at the Bukalo village council, Swapo obtained three seats, with NDP and PDM both gaining a seat each.
