A l'approche du 11 novembre, un hommage aux Poilus de 14-18
"Le Régiment de Sambre et Meuse" est une marche militaire qui était très populaire auprès des Poilus. La chanson a été composée en 1872 par Planquette, qui composera quelques années plus tard "Les Cloches de Corneville". En 1872, la France vit encore le traumatisme de la défaite de 1870, et on ne parle que de revanche face à l'Allemagne. En cette période, beaucoup de chansons avec ce thème sont composées. Elles font presque toujours aux héros des guerres révolutionnaires, qui doivent servir de modèle aux nouvelles générations qui devront se battre pour défaire l'Allemagne et récuperer l'Alsace-Lorraine. C'est le cas de cette chanson, enregistrée dès 1904, et qui sera encore plus enregistrée après la Victoire de 1918. Elle est dans le même genre que "Le Rêve passe", créé en 1909 par Bérard, dans son registre patriotique:    • Bérard - Le rêve passe (1909)

Tribute to the "Poilus" of the First World War.
This song was composed in 1872, 2 years only after the disaster of the 1870's war with Prussia. It's a song of the 3rd French Republic, vengeful and patriot. As for all patriotics songs of this time, lyrics are about the glory of soldiers of the French Revolution, which will serve as models for the new soldiers of the new Republic, against Germany and for retrieve Alsace-Lorraine. This song was recorded many time from 1904, and especially after the Victory of 1918 (for example by Caruso in 1919).
