Mahakal Mandir(Mahakal Dham Temple):-

Mahakal Dham Temple is one of the main tourist attractions and best tourist places of Darjeeling. Basically this is a temple of Lord Shiva. Mahakal Dham located just behind the Mall Road of Darjeeling. Mahakal dham is a Shiva Temple where Hinduism and Buddhism is preached side by side. It is a unique religious place where both religions co-exist harmoniously. There are Lord Shiva, Brahma nd Bishnu, the three main God of Hindu religion is placed under one roof.
The Temple was built in 1782 by Lama Dorjey Rinzing and is perched atop the Observatory Hill Darjeeling. Mahakal Temple stands as a historical edifice on the spot where a Buddhist Monastery named 'Dorje-Ling' once stood which was built by Lama Dorjey Rinzing in 1765. Early
Legend has it that the name Darjeeling was derived from the name of the monastery 'Dorje-Ling' itself. There is a secret park where you can get a chance to swing. But you have to find where the secret park is. I will not tell you. There are lots of temple like Brahma, Bishnu, maa kali, Radha Krishna, Hanuman, Ganesh and a cave temple. One has to climb 500 m of distance from mall road, Darjeeling to reach mahakal dham temple. The surrounding of the temple is very serene, beautiful and calm. Colourful tebetan flags and festoons make this temple very colourful. There are a number of 'Dharm Chakra' in the temple. It is believed that if someone turns all the 'Dharm chakras' His or her all wish get fulfilled. Morning and evening is the best time to visit mahakal dham temple. This temple is very clean and hygienic. So one can visit there with their families and friends. If you are visiting Mall Road of Darjeeling, you should not miss mahakal dham temple. This is the best place to spend 30 to 40 mins in peace and calmness.
