IDBA 45th Anniversary - First Bilingual Academy of the Deaf

Описание: Congratulations to Mook Badhir Sangathan-Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy,IDBA, Indore(M.P ) for completing it's successful 45 years on 2nd Oct.2019.

It was not at all easy for it's founders(Deaf) Dr.Usha Punjabi and Mr. Rajkumar Punjabi approx 50 years back around 1970-74 to dare and dream this and DO IT .....lots of challenges followed all their life.
Society wasn't open to accept Deaf as leaders to lead something big or even small.
Rather ready to pull and laugh.
Biggest challenge was to make hearing people hear the Deaf.

Earlier in 1970s ISL was not in fashion as today,infact was not known as a language, and was hated by policy makers, audiologists, schools, parents etc.

But MBS(IDBA) having Deaf leaders in education and extra curricular activities always acknowledged and used sign language in classes and sports/Vocational Trainings.
Trained it's teachers,staff in sign language.
Unconsciously it was on the path of Bilingualism and became First Bilingual (High School/College) Academy of the Deaf in India, but sad there was no professional training on educational Bilingualism, nor today there is much.

IDBA is whole heartedly thankful to it's board - the pillars Mrs. Amita Marathe, Mr.Murlidhar Dhamani and all others,staff,wellwishers Late K.L. Dharia Ji (Deaf) , Mr. Jitendra Ji Dave, Dr. Lalit Kawadia and more who support constantly ,others too who guide, donated in cash or kind, had faith in us and stayed together..

Also thanks to government to recognize and award this NGO at state and national levels.

Dedications paid off ..IDBA is proud to produce big number of Deaf leaders, teachers and interpreters since years who are working/providing their services in all over India and to bring lot of positive change in each IDBAian :-)

IDBA is also proud to give national and international platforms to it's students and achieve success in education, literacy, sports, art, cultural,beauty contests, matrimony, conferences, workshops, sign language, youth events etc.
