During the mid-afternoon of March 28, 2017, a prolific supercell thunderstorm formed to the southwest of Abilene, Texas. The storm initially produced a brief, high-based tornado near Dyess Airforce Base (not included in this video), then cycled near the town of Tye. The storm became more organized as it moved north-northeast, and eventually produced its second tornado between the towns of Hawley and Anson. Though also relatively brief, this tornado exhibited multi-vortex characteristics, including a long horizontal vortex. A bit later, the storm produced a third tornado near the town of Funston; this tornado continued generally northward for several miles, moving near the towns of Avoca and Stamford. Thankfully, this tornado remained over primarily uninhabited areas, as it would likely have been very damaging had it moved through any of the nearby towns.
