Shaukat Ali Yousafzai – Pakistani Politician and Senior PTI Leader

Shaukat Ali Yousafzai (born 1 February 1963) is a prominent Pakistani politician and senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He served as a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from May 2013 to January 2023. Yousafzai has held key positions including Minister for Health and Information in the Pervez Khattak administration and Secretary General of PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter. He has also served as a political advisor to PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Early Life and Education:
Hailing from Besham, Shangla, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai moved to Peshawar in the 1990s. He completed his early education at Government High School, Shangla, followed by Intermediate studies at Jehanzeb College, Swat. He earned an MSc from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Agricultural University, Peshawar, and a degree in Journalism from the University of Peshawar.

Journalism Career:
Before his full-time political career, Yousafzai was a senior journalist. He served three terms as President of the Khyber Union of Journalists and is the Chief Editor of Daily Surkhab, published from Peshawar.

Political Career:
Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has been active in politics since his university days, serving as President of the Peoples Student Federation at KP Agricultural University. He joined PTI in 1996, helping to establish the party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In 2011, he was appointed Political Advisor to Imran Khan but later resigned to contest PTI’s intra-party elections. He was elected Provincial General Secretary of PTI KP and subsequently contested the 2013 general elections from PK-2 Peshawar, defeating Syed Zahir Ali Shah of PPP by a margin of 16,000 votes.

Yousafzai also served as Deputy Parliamentary Leader of PTI in KP Provincial Assembly and held ministerial roles in Health and Information. He gained international attention in 2019 after a social media mishap during a press conference, where a cat face filter appeared on him during a live broadcast.

Current Role:
As of now, Shaukat Ali Yousafzai is an influential PTI leader in KP, focusing on party organization and provincial politics, although he does not currently hold a ministerial post.
