Storms hit the region
Storm Éowyn is sweeping across the UK and Ireland, hitting Scotland and Northern Ireland particularly hard. For the first time, the meteorological service has declared a red alert level for both regions. The storm will affect western and central Scotland between 10:00-17:00 on Friday and Northern Ireland between 07:00-14:00. Wind speeds are expected to reach 100 miles per hour along the coast. The Met Office said the storm was of exceptional intensity and posed a life safety risk.
