In May 1998, the Milwaukee Road 261 steam locomotive operated excursion trips over the Twin Cities & Western Railroad (TC&W) in Minnesota. These trips, run by the Friends of the 261, featured a 146-mile round trip between Chanhassen and Olivia, Minnesota, showcasing the 4-8-4 Northern-type engine on its former home rails.
