A Sneak Peek into the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code (IBC) of India

Описание: The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code came into existence in May 2016. It has been 4 years since then. It has played a major role in improving the corporate insolvency resolution process in India. India’s Insolvency rank is 52 in the 2019 Ease of Doing Business rankings, whereas it was 137 in 2015, before the IBC came into existence. Around 4,000 resolution processes have been initiated until the end of March 2020 according to the latest report from the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India. There have been some amendments made to the code as well, the major one being related to wilful defaulters. As per the ordinance, they will be weeded out from the pool of potential buyers for a company being sold by lenders.
