In this session of Decoding the Past, join us for a conversation with Dr. Peter Krapp, Professor of Film & Media Studies at UC Irvine, on his recent book Computing Legacies: Digital Cultures of Simulation. Tune in to learn about the crucial role simulation plays in the preservation of digital culture and what investigating its widespread use as a cultural technique can tell us about how we relate to our history and present in a world shaped by computing.
Peter Krapp is a Professor of Film & Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine, and affiliated with the Departments of English, Music, and Informatics. In addition to Computing Legacies, his major publications include Medium Cool (2002), Deja Vu: Aberrations of Cultural Memory (2004), Noise Channels: Glitch and Error in Digital Culture (2011), and the Handbook Language-Culture-Communication (2013).
