In this one-hour webinar, hosted by Parks & Trails New York in partnership with the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, Steve Bodnar and Emma MacDowell provided an overview of the Pomeroy Foundation’s historical marker grant program, and related opportunities through Historic Transportation, Legends & Lore, Hungry for History, and National Register. This webinar highlighted how Pomeroy Marker grants help park and trail partners honor local history, inspire pride, and connect visitors to the outdoor landscapes they enjoy.
Joshua Cole, a community advocate and local historian dedicated to preserving the stories and heritage of Belfast, New York offered his perspective and insight from applying and receiving grants through the Pomeroy Foundation.
This session guides prospective applications through researching and selecting compelling marker subjects, the application process, and drawing inspiration from places that have celebrated their heritage in lasting and visible ways.
