Описание: Had a live interview this morning on ‪@BBC‬ about something that truly changed my life — busking.

Performing on the street gave me everything. It’s where I found my voice, built confidence, found an audience and connected with people in the most raw, honest way. From those early days on street corners to where I am now — busking was the foundation of it all.

But today, that foundation is being shaken.

A major court case brought against Westminster Council has ruled that amplified busking in Leicester Square is a statutory nuisance. And now, the very pitch where many of you have seen me perform countless times is at serious risk of being shut down.

To be clear — I do understand the concerns raised by Global and other local businesses. No one wants to make life difficult for people who work in the area every day.

But the answer isn’t to ban busking altogether — it’s to find a balanced solution. Set reasonable volume limits and introduce new guidelines to minimise the impact on the surrounding area.

We’ve already proposed major changes and new measures: lower volumes, smaller speakers, fewer sets, more education. What we’re asking for now is simple — dialogue, not destruction.

This is more than a noise complaint. It’s a threat to one of London’s most iconic cultural spaces, Leicester Square — and it sets a dangerous precedent. If one complaint can shut down live music here, what’s to stop it from happening across the city? Or even the country?

Street performance is a proven launchpad for talent — a training ground, a spark for connection, and a birthplace of creativity. We need to protect busking and keep it alive for future generations of artists.
