Prime Minister Anthony Albanese presided over the National Citizenship and Flag-Raising Ceremony in Canberra on Australia Day, where new Australians took their citizenship pledge. The ceremony featured a Seahawk helicopter flying over the lake with an Australian flag, military aircraft including a Wedgetail and Wirraway, a 21-gun salute from the National Guard, and Indigenous dancers. The Prime Minister was briefly heckled during the event but emphasised the positive atmosphere as new citizens received their certificates.
