Alam Khan (22 October 1944 – 8 July 2022) was a Bangladeshi composer and music director. He was awarded Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director seven times for the films Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo (2005), Teen Kanya (2006), Surrender (2007), Dinkal (2008) and Ibadat (2009). He also won Best Music Composer Award for the films Bagher Thaba (2005) and Ki Jadu Korila (2008). As of 2008, Khan composed around 2000 songs and provided music direction to around 300 films. He is notable for the composition of the songs "Ore Neel Doriya Amay De Re De Chhariya", "Ami Rajanigandha", "Daak Diachhe Doyal Amarey", "Hayre Manush Rangin Phanush" and "Tumi Jekhaney Ami Shekhaney".

AlamKhan, full name Khurshid Alam Khan born on 22 October 1944, is a renowned music personality of Bangladesh. He was a lyricist, composer and music director. He won the Best Music Director and Composer category in 1982 for Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo, Tin Konna in 1985, Surrender in 1987, Dinkal in 1992, Bagher Thaba in 1999, Ebadat in 2009 and Ki Jadu Korila in 2010 won the National Film Award given by the Government of Bangladesh a total of 7 times. Alam Khan was born in Baniagati village of Sirajganj district. His father Aftab Uddin Khan was an administrative officer of the Secretariat Home Department and his mother Jobeda Khanam was a housewife. After staying in Sirajganj for a few years, he moved to Calcutta due to his father's job. After the partition of the country in 1947, he returned to Dhaka with his father. Then settled in Dhaka and enrolled in Siddheshwari School. Passed matriculation from this school. While at school, he developed a passion for music. Although his father Aftab Uddin Khan showed disinterest at first, he continued to practice music with his mother's encouragement. Later, his father took him to Ustad Nani Chatterjee for music lessons. Alam Khan is 2nd among four brothers and two sisters. Azam Khan, the famous rock guru artist of Bangladesh, was his younger brother. In 1963, he directed music for the film ‘Talash’ as an assistant to Robin Ghosh. In 1970, Khan made his debut as a solo music director through the film ‘Kach Kata Hire’ directed by Abdul Jabbar Khan. The first popular song he composed was "Tablar Tere Kete Tak" from the movie ‘Slogan’ directed by Kabir Anwar. After that, the song "Ore Nil Doria" written by Mukul Chowdhury and sung by Abdul Jabbar in the film 'Sareng Bou' released in 1978, and directed by Abdullah Al Mamun, created a massive hit throughout Bangladesh. In 1982 Kamal Ahmed's film 'Rojonigondha', "Ami Rojonigondha Fuler Moto" written by Masood Karim and sung by Sabina Yasmin and "Haire Manush Rongin Fanush" sung by Andrew Kishore, written by Syed Shamsul Haque from the film 'Boro Bhalo Lok Chilo', caught the attention of the millions of music lovers around the globe. Renowned Indian singer Kumar Sanu started the playback with the Bangladeshi movie the song "Tin Konna Ek e chobi" from the film 'Tin Konna' composed by him in 1985. He created music for 297 Bangladeshi movies with all kinds of songs including romantic, sad, spiritual, folk, and rock in harmony with the story and screenplay in the film in unique and incomparable melodiousness. He was one of the creators of commercial success due to his music in the film, which had a considerable impact on the hearts of the cinema audience. Alam Khan was diagnosed with lung cancer in late May 2011. He breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital Limited (BSHL) in Shyamoli, Dhaka, on Friday, July 08, 2022, at 11:32 am & being buried at Zannatul Ferdaus Complex graveyard which is beside the Masjidul Awlia Khwaja Shah Mozammel Hoque (R.) at Srimongal.
