Описание: Revelation's chapter 7 has been called an "intercalation," a "digression," an "interlude," or a "timeout." A "timeout" works well if we think of it the way the term is used in the sporting world. The team or the coach calls a timeout because they need to regroup and prepare for a special challenge. In Revelation, this is "the great ordeal" or "the great tribulation." R. H. Charles, writing one hundred years ago, envisioned a "timeout" to get ready for what he called "the epiphany of Satan." We have seen fierce demonic activity in the seals up to this point. Now, on "the eve of the epiphany of Satan," God takes special action to protect the believers from harm. This is the meaning of "the sealing" depicted in this chapter (7:1-8). How amazing it is that "the sealed" are constituted as the twelve tribes of Israel! After the timeout, the turn comes to the seventh seal (8:1). When the Lamb breaks this seal, "there was silence in heaven for about half an hour" (8:1). We shall be hard pressed to find a more intriguing verse in the Bible. Why the silence? And for a whole half an hour?
