ETC tentative test date for USAT is 12th September. Time is short but this video helps you to prepare for the test in no time through practical and gold tips. This video is equally valuable for SAT, CAT, MDCAT, LAT or similar tests for admission and scholarships.
USAT VERBAL REASONING:
35 MAXIMUM SCORE
TARGET TIME TO RESOLVE EACH QUESTION: 1.33 / question
You need to focus on the paragraphs or texts presented to you in the test. You don't suppose to think about your own information from your general knowledge, everyday experience because, here you are not going to win or lose any argument. Aim is to get maximum score from MCQs.
If you select option A for 3 questions in row, please don't assume that 4th question might not have right option A again. If you find option A correct again, just choose it and move on. Don't assume and build pressure on yourself.
Read and reread questions and answers is good but don't take much time as time and accuracy is everything.
Please read instruction carefully as sometime correct options are more than one.
Keyword Technique is a great thing to consider. Just find dates, numbers or capital letters in the question and go back to passage, just in first or second line of passage, you can see same dates, numbers or capital letters there which is your correct answer.
Extreme phrases such as NEVER, ALWAYS, WILL, MOST, MUST are usually FALSE options. However, Mild phrases such as MAY, CAN, SOMETIMES are usually TRUE options.
Any questions about author or writer's conclusion or opinion, you don't need to waste your time in searching the whole text, just go in the end of the text - usually last 2 - 3 lines and you would find the answer there.
Also be aware, in MCQs there is a possibility of more than one correct options so be extra cautious and read the question carefully. In addition, keep an eye on negative questions, for example WHICH OF THESE ISN'T TRUE?
In case you are confident to choose one option from given choices, please don't waste time in reading other options or question again, just move on.
Practice is a game changer, believe me. Just do exactly as you will do in the exam hall.
Practice skim reading meaning how to scan and grab most important information for the long passages without taking too much time.
Flag some questions if you are unsure about your answers or just write down their answers which you feel is correct on your rough paper and in the end you can come back for more reading if have time or just choose them back.
There is also no harm to practice educated guesses or apply your own favorite tetchiness for the sake of getting highest score in the test.
Learning from mistakes during mock practice is a great way to retain knowledge.
Night before test, please have good sleep and wake early in the morning and say your FAJR prayer.
QUANTITATIVE REASONING
40 MAXIMUM SCORE
TARGET TIME TO RESOLVE EACH QUESTION: 1.33 / question
Recall basic percentages, proportions, fractions, ratios, estimations, currency conversion, inflations, division, multiplication, subtraction, addition, formulas for circle, area, volume etc.
Observe what is happening in your daily life and try to construct quantitative questions and answer them back is great way of learning numbers. For example you eat chappati. If 25 chappatis are made in 1kg flour, how much flour is need to make 200 chappatis?
Round Up or down numbers is a good way to resolve complex questions. For example 9.99 x 9.99 = ? or just do it 10 x 10 = 100 I hope you get the sense here.
Unit changes is one of the tricks examiner uses in test. They ask in cms but choices will be given in mms. So don't get tricked.
Multistep calculations requires extra time, so try to deal with them in the end if possible.
ESSAY WRITING
400 - 500 WORDS (can write in URDU or English)
40 MINUTES MAXIMUM ALLOWED TIME
Essay comes in many forms and shapes for example based on arguments, explanations, descriptions, evaluations, analysis, comparisons etc. Just keep an eye no essay writing question what is being asked.
Good design, structure or layout helps you to get maximum score in the essay writing. Best practice is to take 5 minutes to plan the essay, draw a diagram if possible on blank paper and then branches to sections such as INTRODUCTION, MAIN BODY, CONCLUSION / SUMMARY.
