This is the time lapse fossil preparation of a really nice caudal vertebrae from a herbivorous Iguanodontid dinosaur - possibly either Iguanodon or Mantellisaurus. This vertebrae comes from the Wessex formation of the Isle of Wight and dates back to the early Cretaceous 125 million years ago.
Tools used in this preparation:
Paleotool ME-9100 pneumatic air scribed linked to air compressor at 90-100 PSI
Paraloid B72 & acetone (4-5% dilution) as a consolidant
Paleosculp 2-part expoxy resin for large crack repair
Rubber & wood Sculpting tool to apply the mixed resin
Acrylic paint & small brush (for blending the repaired areas)
