• Tracks 1, 17, and 18 are from FMV sequences and thus unfortunately are only in monaural and are much more compressed sounding. Given these are direct rips from the disc image, this is as high quality as this soundtrack gets, given there was no official OST release like Micro Cabin's other 3DO RPG, Lucienne's Quest (also known as Sword & Sorcery).

= About the game =
Powers Kingdom (パワーズキングダム), also known as Guardian War in the US, is an S-RPG released by Micro Cabin in 1994 on the Panasonic 3DO. It's a short, quirky game made by a very small team with an incredibly endearing art style utilizing pre-rendered, 3D graphics. Lucienne's Quest, also known as Sword & Sorcery, would release the following year on the 3DO and include mechanics that build upon Powers Kingdom's.

The story centers around "golems", animated by a goddess, to fight against the powers of evil that have overtaken the world, lead by a dark force called Azrael. These golems are essentially souls that can inhabit bodies at will, which in turn functionally serve as classes game mechanics-wise, each with their own stats, elemental alignments, attacks, spells, and other attributes such as being able to move swiftly in water or fly.

Up to three bodies can be equipped to a golem at a time, with the active body being able to level up and rank/evolve to another form (e.g., Knight to Dark Knight or Paladin, depending on the player's choice). The other equipped bodies' attacks and spells can still be used even in a passive role. Each golem can also level up itself, increasing its base stats.

The world map has a mostly linear series of stages that can be entered. The party is collapsed into one player character in these stages until enemies are close by, at which time it splits into a pre-defined formation decided by the player, and then collapses again when the nearby enemies are defeated. Combat is turn-based and combatants and obstacles (walls, trees, rocks, pillars, etc.) are all arranged on a grid. Each stage is completed by defeating all of the enemies that reside there.

While there are no differences in audio quality or music tracks between regional releases of the game, the spoken monologue in the intro is a bit longer in Powers Kingdom at the end, introducing the world's name and game title.

Powers Kingdom is a very fun game, and is one I highly recommend you check out!
