🏔️ Sela Tunnel Overview
Location: Beneath the Sela Pass in the Tawang district, at an altitude of 3,000 metres (9,800 ft).
Length: Approximately 12.04 km, making it the longest bi-lane tunnel in the world at 13,000 feet elevation.
Opened: Officially inaugurated on 9 March 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Operator: Managed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Construction Method: Built using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) for enhanced stability and safety.
