Demonstrates how a spherical shaped object can become an ellipsoid when rotated.
A thin spring steel hoop is placed on a hand-driven rotator that is rotated about it's diameter. As it is rotated faster and faster, it elongates radially from the axis of rotation. This is analogous to why the earth's radius is wider at the equator than at the poles.
