Districts like Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sonepur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh form the Koshal region, rich in culture, language and heritage. But poverty, lack of industries, poor medical facilities, neglect of Kosli language, and uneven development have fueled the demand for a new state.
