1934 Oldsmobile R6 F-Series Chassis digital reconstruction with 3D & AR Technology

Описание: In this video, we explore the 1934 Oldsmobile F-Series R6, a rare chassis-only demonstration car originally built to showcase its engine, suspension, and transmission. This unique piece is displayed at the Riga Motor Museum, featuring cutaway sections of the engine, gearbox, and differential to reveal how everything works.

We 3D scanned the entire car, digitally reconstructing it from old photos since no body remained. Using Augmented Reality (AR), we developed an interactive museum app where visitors can see a digital overlay of the complete car, with animated engine, gearbox, suspension, and drivetrain components.

Another WebAR app lets users place the car in any space, interact with it, and even disassemble parts like the engine, pistons, and crankshaft for a detailed look at its mechanics.

The 1934 Oldsmobile F-Series was an important model in Oldsmobile’s lineup, featuring a 213 cubic-inch (3.5L) inline-six engine with 84 horsepower. A key innovation of this car was its independent front suspension, which improved ride comfort and handling—an advanced feature for the 1930s.

During this time, many car manufacturers, including Oldsmobile, built chassis-only demonstration models to highlight their engineering advancements. These exposed chassis displays allowed people to see the engine, transmission, and suspension systems in action, making it easier to understand how the car was built and how its mechanics worked.
