The Mint Julep is believed to date back to 1807 when US Senator Henry Clay claims to have created the drink. He shared his recipe with his political friends at the Willard Hotel's Round Robin Bar in Washington D.C. and the word quickly spread.

1938 the drink became the official drink of the Kentucky Derby and it's still how most people know the drink today. In fact over the 2-day event, the Kentucky Derby will sell over 120,000 mint juleps.... that is literally mind-blowing!

RECIPE: Mint Julep

2.5oz | 75ml Bourbon
.25oz | 7.5ml Simple Syrup
10-12 Mint Leaves


Add 10-12 mint leaves after giving them a light slap
Add bourbon and Syrup.
Give a light muddle (do not tear mint) - Set aside.
(optional) Make crushed ice, and fill glass 3/4 full.
stir ingredients evenly, and add rest of ice.
Garnish with Mint Sprig

ENJOY!

*Note: If you like a sweeter Mint Julep try increasing the Simple Syrup to .5oz!
