The Garden That Raised Me is a song I wrote for my mother. Through the metaphor of a garden, it tells the story of growing up, leaving home, building a family of your own, and eventually passing love and care on to the next generation.
The video features old camcorder footage from 2009 of my grandparents’ garden, layered with my own animated drawings of tiny creatures and nature. I had a lot of fun making it. If you look closely, you might spot a few hidden details along the way. Ribbit! 🐸
I’m releasing this song on my late grandmother’s day of birth, in memory of her love and the garden that shaped us.
