In this episode, filmed just one day after Storm Bram hit the Irish coastline, we carry out an important part of alpaca ownership: a full alpaca health check, including routine parasite treatment and vitamin support.

This video shows how we manage alpaca health and welfare on our farm, including:

🦙 Alpaca parasite dosing / deworming
🦙 Vitamin injections (Vitamin A, D & E)
🦙 Body Condition Scoring (BCS) to assess weight and nutrition
🦙 Checking alpaca eyelids for signs of anaemia (FAMACHA Scoring)
🦙 Safe alpaca handling in the barn
🦙 Moving alpacas onto a fresh pasture to help break parasite cycles

After deworming, we keep the alpacas in the shed overnight so that manure can be collected and removed, helping reduce parasite egg contamination on grazing fields. The following morning, the herd is moved onto a fresh pasture, which is an important step in long-term parasite control.
