A drone flight over the abandoned motorcycle track Circuit de Lezennes in France. Circuit de Lezennes was a permanent circuit in the northwest of France, near the city of Lille. It was not a racing circuit and only accessible for motorcyclists to test their driving skills and drive at speeds that are not allowed on the public road.

Motorcyclists could buy a year pass to get acces to the track, with their street legal motorcycles, on the days it was open. This caused a dangerous mix of fast and slow motorcycles and experienced and unexperienced drivers.

Because this circuit was not for racing it has not a real Start/Finish and no pitboxes. However, there is a main straight - where we start the track walk - and a kind of a pit lane to enter and exit the track. Here you see where they enter the track.

Characteristic for the layout were the long right-hand corners. This caused the tires to wear faster on the right side than on the left. Many solved this by turning the tires every 2 or 3 track days.

The circuit had several different configurations. The main configuration was the 1.9 kilometers, or 1.18 Miles, long outer loop, which we walk in this video. This loop could be divided into two smaller circuits by means of two connections in the center of the track. And there were also a longer combinations possible from the outer loop in combination with these connections inside. In addition, there was also a cross track for motorbikes in the infield of the circuit.

Although the circuit was not close to residential areas, the mayor claimed he received many noise complaints. That's why he would work to close the circuit. In addition, more and more stringent requirements were placed on the circuit, which could not be met. All this resulted in a closure in 2019.

Since then, Circuit de Lezennes has been left abandoned. To prevent illegal driving, the track has been filled with rubble.

About the urban exploring of Circuit de Lezennes:
On June 8, 2023 I visited the abandoned Circuit de Lezennes. Beforehand I carefully studied the area with Google Maps to see how he could get to the circuit. I discovered a narrow path between the circuit and a golf course.

But when I arrived at the circuit, it turned out to be well fenced off with a sturdy fence. The circuit was also a lot lower than the path. So if there was an opening in the fence at all, it was still a dangerous climb to the circuit and back. Fortunately - after walking about three quarters of the way around the track - I discovered a narrow overgrown path that led to the track.

After this track walk I also made a drone flight over the abandoned circuit. This video can also been seen on the Circuits of the past YouTube channel.
