Interestingly enough, this Elseworlds adventure is one that features an alternate universe and the heroes differ from the classic lineup due to the fact that they have different backstories and feature unique versions of various superheroes. This new production from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies provided a totally different perspective on the team in 2015. This Elseworlds version of the Justice League only had Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, with each character having a remarkably different spin on their usual representations. Batman here is Dr. Kirk Langstrom, Wonder Woman is Bekka, a powerful fighter from New Genesis and Superman is Hernan Guerra, who is General Zod’s son in this animated film. This movie is also arguably one of the most important superhero films made in the last decade, for a host of controversial reasons. This movie was famously known to be Zack Snyder’s follow-up after he made Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, but the film received a large number of mixed reactions from the public and the critics. The director infamously had to abandon this animated production due to personal tragedies. After he left, the movie was taken up by Joss Whedon, who oversaw major reshoots and went on to re-edit the movie as well. But unfortunately, the movie was rushed to meet a release date.
