Yosifu returns to his own Matadim village where he and Mayaw are honored to unveil the mosaic art wall at Matadim Church. Yosifu’s designs were brought to life thanks to Mayaw’s skilled tiling, and the earnest participation of their community. This piece blending our unique fishing culture with modern aesthetics, won the National Public Art Award, and now stands as a shining example of local revitalization led by the return of Indigenous youth. This mural is a living testament to creativity, community, and cultural renewal of the Amis people that now reverberates around the world.

“Yosifu's Cultural Canvas” is an artistic journey inviting audiences to discover the vibrant art and compelling stories of Taiwan's Indigenous peoples. Yosifu is a contemporary artist who hails from Matadim Village, Hualien in eastern Taiwan but is now based in Edinburgh, Scottland. He visits leading creatives building the rich tapestry of Taiwanese Indigenous art and collaborates with them on new and exciting projects.
