Let's Play Oblivion 27 - Stendarr's Mercy

Описание: Thel Dr'og visits the Chapel in Chorrol where the Gauntlets of the Crusader have sat immovable on the floor for 300 years. There he meets a descendant of Sir Casimir, still afflicted by the curse.

Is removing someone else's affliction by taking it on yourself a fantasy trope at this point? I don't know how common of a theme it is. I'm also struck by the description of the curse as it was applied to Casimir's descendants, and its impact on the player character. Is this an instance of the character being so strong that you can generally shrug off the effects, or is the effect on the character reduced as an expression of Stendarr's mercy?
