Syrian Rock Hyraxes are small, stocky mammals that live in parts of Africa and the Middle East, with the Syrian subspecies found in Israel. They are very social and live in large colonies with each other. As is demonstrated in this video, Rock Hyraxes will sound off calls in the event that a predator is nearby (likely us). We saw these animals while walking the trail to David Waterfall in Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, Israel.
