Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a quick look at the Demco Stay-In-Play DUO supplemental braking system with Wireless Coachlink monitor. Now, a supplemental braking system is going to be an essential component if you are going to be towing a vehicle behind your RV through the flat tow method, where all four wheels are on the ground.A supplemental braking system is going to help with your towing setup because it's going to apply the brakes in your towed vehicle so that it can slow and stop itself rather than relying on your RV's brakes to slow both the RV and your vehicle, which can put undue strain on your RV's brakes. It's very important for that. It's also going to allow the vehicle to slow and stop itself if it we're to become disconnected from your RV.

Rather than bouncing down the interstate or highway on its own, it's going to help bring that to a stop and that's why it's required in most States. If you want to be legal as you're towing, it's a good idea to have this and it's just going to improve the towing experience for you.This system is a great option if you are looking into a supplemental braking system. It is going to apply the brakes in your vehicle proportionally to the way that you apply the brakes in your RV. If you are driving down the road and all of a sudden you have to slam on your brakes in your RV, it is going to apply that same amount of pressure to the brakes in your towed vehicle. If you're just lightly tapping the brakes in your RV it will do the same in the towed vehicle.

That way you're not having the towed vehicle slam on its brakes when you're just tapping them in your RV. So it's going to be a proportional system.It does that through a two step method. It is connected to the lights on your RV. So when your brake lights come on, that's going to activate the system. But then it also has an inertia sensor in it.

It is going to gauge how slow or how quickly you are decelerating and apply that same amount of pressure to the brakes in your towed vehicle. If you are just kind of barely tapping on your brakes, not really slowing down, it's going to activate the system but it's not going to apply the brakes. But if you are applying the brakes, really trying to slow or stop yourself, it is going to activate since how quickly you are decelerating and apply the brakes to that same amount of pressure. It's a really great system.This inertia sensor is adjustable, so you can adjust that pressure. If you want a little bit more braking power, if you're going down mountains or something like that, you can apply that and get that set up to your system preferences.

That is a really nice way of doing it to make sure that you're not going to have any false braking. So if it we're just tied to the lights, anytime you tapped on your brakes, it would apply the brakes in the vehicle and you could end up dragging your vehicle around. So having that two step process is a really nice way of having the brakes applied in your towed vehicle.This is going to fit a wide range of makes and models of vehicles, several hundred different kinds. I would recommend you come to our website here. We've got a vehicle fit guide where you type in your year, make and model of your vehicle and we'll let you know if it's going to work for you. Sometimes you run into different braking systems or seat setups and those kinds of things, so we want to make sure that you're getting the right product that's going to work for you the first time. Go ahead and use that vehicle fit guide. It is a very diverse option for you. It's going to fit almost all vehicles, I would say. A very good chance that this will work for you, but use that vehicle fit guide just to be sure.One other really nice thing about this setup is that it is a one time setup. You're not going to have to remove it every time and install it like some of the other portable systems, where you have to kind of put them in your floorboard and then remove them when you're done towing. Once you have it installed once, all you have to do is hook up your system before you tow and it's going to apply the brakes throughout your whole trip. Very easy to get set up from one trip to the next.It is a rather detailed installation. The first time you are going to have to run some wires and cut into your vacuum lines and things.
