Water is not just a necessity it is a responsibility.
During the ongoing Jal Mahotsav (March 8–22), the focus is on raising awareness about the importance of water conservation and access. Odisha is taking a major step forward under the Jal Jeevan Mission with a target to achieve 100% rural piped drinking water coverage by 2027.
With an estimated outlay of ₹54,000 crore, the initiative aims to provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) to millions of rural households. This includes the development of water treatment plants, overhead reservoirs, and thousands of kilometers of pipeline networks.
For many rural families, especially women, access to water has long meant waiting in queues or walking long distances daily. This initiative is set to transform lives by ensuring reliable access to clean drinking water, improving public health, saving time, and boosting rural productivity.
This is not just about water supply it’s about dignity, health, and a better future.
Watch the full story and understand how Odisha is reshaping rural life through water access.
