STORYLINE:
The historical Baoan Temple in Taipei had its bell struck 108 times on the first day of the Lunar New Year Tuesday to welcome the Year of the Horse, and temple goers who go there for their new year prayers.

The bell was struck 108 times because 108 is seen as an auspicious number in Chinese culture.

Sanny Yeh, an employee in the tech industry who visited the temple said, “I hope that my job will be smooth in the coming year, and that I find a new job that I like.”

The temple was inducted into the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation in 2003.
