GOOD STARTS YEAY - Bert Racing Highlights Of Round 4 - Formula Libre (5 June 2021)

Описание: After getting new brake pads, I have not had time to bed in the brakes, so had to do it during qualifying, so I took it easy for the first 3 laps, where all competitors really struggled to put in a good lap due to the cold track. But just when my brakes started working and I tried to put in a few hot laps, my clutch pedal got stuck down the brack straight, coming into the turn. This caused me to have to brake really early, as I could not brake with the gears and had to settle for a poor lap time. Luckily the other competitors also struggled and I was set to start 6th on the grid, first in class B.

We quickly got to work and thanks to the advice of Dee-jay Booysen and help of my trusty crew members, Faf Viljoen and Handré Viljoen, we managed to grind off the top part of the clutch pedal, which was getting stuck to the body when I pressed it in.

All good, we started race 1. For a change, I had an excellent start. I quickly settled into a groove. I managed to put out consistent lap times, where lap 3 to lap 6's laptimes were only 0.2 seconds apart. I ended for a comfortable win in my class, 29 seconds infront of the 2nd Class B car, and only 14 seconds behind the Class A car infront of me.

The 2nd Race, I started in 6th on the grid again. I had a good start, but my main Class B competitor, Hydn Ellwood had an amazing start and managed to overtake me from the start. From here I had a good battle for almost 3 laps before I managed to overtake him. Even in a slower car, he managed to give me a good class in race craft, and kept me at bay for long. Finally after the overtake it was clean sailing for me, and ended 1st in Class B, and 6th Overall.

Overall, I was happy with the result. I was very happy with my starts that have seen improvement over the last few races. My lap times were much more consistent, although only 0.2 seconds faster than the previous race. (1:22.556)

Before the next race we are going to change our rear sprocket, and change my rear wing setup, which should help for the top speed in the straights. My goal is to improve my lap time by 1 second and get down to 1:21 by the next race or 2. Go Bert Racing!
